What a lovely challenge! My chance to wreck a baking tin and burn myself!! As I don't have a melt pot YET I had a go at making an ATC using some chipboard as a base. Could I find my heat proof silicone mat? Long tweezers? No, of course, hence having to use the baking tin and getting it covered in UTEE and a slight burn on my finger!
I covered the ATC in 3 layers of clear UTEE, heating from underneath to get a glassy finish and then added a couple of layers of Moon Glow Two-Toned EP in Hollyberry Red/Gold. I used an image from Summer in the Orient from The Stampman and pressed this into the EP when still hot.
When it had cooled, I used Perfect Pearls Antique Gold to define the high spots and also sponged a little Black Soot DI on some of the raised areas.
The two-tone EP has given an interesting effect as some of the colours have separated and the background looks the colour of carnelian.
Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment - all are very much appreciated.
This is lovely Janet, I don't have a Melting Pot either so will have to think what I can use for this technique.
ReplyDeleteI saw Sheena use the foil tins that have Mince Pies in them, so may try that, especially as I collected quite a lot from eating Creme Caramel's in Spain. They came in foil containers.

I'd say that this was a raving success, Janet. I must use chipboard and heat from the bottom and see if I can get that glassy look like yours has. The colors are beautiful. If you put the baking tin in the freezer, I bet that stuff would pop off. A good cleaning should take care of any poisonous materials you may have used. ;-0
ReplyDeleteOh, BTW, my husband said the same thing you didwhen he saw my Alan Ladd piece: Shane, come back. I remember that scene too.
The two tone efect is a lovely idea, will need to try that too. Great inspiration!
