Rural Ramblings - A Butterfly in Winter
What a surprise we had the other morning when we found our peacock friend on the windowledge! We have a woodburning stove in the sitting room and the day before, had been bringing logs over from the wood store outside and stacking it in the inglenooks at the side of the fire. This beautiful fella had been hibernating amongst the wood and been reawakened due to the increased temperature. After enjoying his presence for a little while, John took him over to the steading (barn) in a lunch box and placed him amongst the hay. He looks like a dead leaf when his wings are closed tight. He is safe there until the days get warmer.

Oh what a beautiful fellow he is. So glad you've given him a safe haven. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful Janet. I've only ever seen one of those in the 'wild' and that was last summer in my garden. He did stay long enough for me to grab my camera and I was amazed at how big it was. His wing span must have been 4" across!
