John and I run the gauntlet everytime we go in or out the backdoor as this is what is directly above our heads! The swallow family have, for the first time whilst we have lived at Redmoss, successfully managed to rear a family in this location on the house. Usually it ends in tragedy due to the rain coming from the east, but this year everything seems ok and the youngsters are only a day or two away from making their first flights. Swallows breed every year here in the eaves but the backdoor position is usually avoided. Poop gets thrown over the side by mum tidying up and we get hit by it!!
Here are grey seals enjoying the sunshine on the rocks at low tide at Portgordon Beach on the Moray Firth. Seals bask in the sun at many places near to where we live and it is easy to find a vantage point to watch and enjoy them. They are very inquisitive and swim quite close when we walk along the beach, having a good look at us, no doubt!
Wonderful hoping all goes well with the swallows and great to be able to watch the seals lucky lady. XOXO Zoe
ReplyDeleteWe're missing the swallows in our new house, we always had several nests at our last house and it was lovely watching the young ones leaving the nest for the first time. Suggest you use a brolly at the backdoor although it is supposed to be lucky!! Best wishes on your new build and thank you for your support at Crafty Ann's too. Carol x
ReplyDeleteFabulous pics Janet, how lovely to be able to watch the young swallows and the seals sound fascinating - who's watching who lol.

ReplyDeleteSuper pics Janet... we have Martins every year but they long gone now. The seals are co cute xx
ReplyDeleteFascinating, Janet. I have to avoid birds' nests, especially the deserted ones. I am a magnet for bird mites. I have had jillions of bites two or three times in my life, once when I managed to dislodge a deserted nest from the crook in a downspout and all the debris fell into my clothes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comments on my blog. I can't imagine having the leaves turn already. Around here the "peak" season is the 3rd week in October.
