Postcard Travels with Roland Poland - Week 13 Turkey

This week our normally cheery hero seems to have lost some of his optimism and enthusiasm following another misunderstanding  and as a direct result of him listening at keyholes to private conversations.  When will he ever learn?
He writes to his half-brother Malcolm,
Hi Malcolm,
Xui said I would be much better off with an iPad and I thought GREAT
we can keep in touch over the internet.
Wrong.  This is his version of an iPad and I'm still getting
the eyedrops 4 times a day.
Oh, yes and we are in Turkey.
RP
Here is the page I made for his travel book.
The images are of the temple at Amman, a Turkish carpet, Turkish Delight, Tommy Cooper who wore a fez (and was also a friend of my grandfather's, who was also a magician).  I edged the page with a lovely piece of paisley ribbon.  The postcard is stamped, masked and brayered.  Stamps are by StampsAway and Create and Craft.
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments.  I have so much fun doing this challenge and I love to visit all your entries and keep up with the stories.

DragonsDream TIO #112 - The Thorn Birds

I have tried to create an Australian Outback scene with my Darkroom Door photo stamp.  I grew up in South Australia and remember the brown, red and ochre colours against the turquoise sky very well.  The koala and emu stamps from Lidl are very tongue-in-cheek but filled up the space at the end nicely!  I drew a cracked background to represent the parched earth.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment - I enjoy them all.

Rainbow Lady's Challenge #198 - Butterflies

A new Tim Holtz On the Edge die prompted this card!  The butterfly edges have been coloured with Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress inks, as has the embossed central panel (folder by Craft Concepts).  The triple embossed heart sentiment is a stamp from Chocolate Baroque and the backing paper from Graphicus.

Thank you for stopping by and do leave a comment - I am encouraged by every one.

CD Sunday Challenge - Spring has Sprung

I have returned to one of my most favourite CD's for this week's challenge,  the quality Floral Fantasia by Krafty Hands.  The image has been decoupaged and it has made a very impressive 8 x 7 card.  My photograph does not do it justice.  I merely added the lilac ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment, I am encouraged by them all.

Postcard Travels with Roland Poland - Week 12 Israel

The Xong's are booked in for hydrotherapy at a spar on the Dead Sea, accompanied by Roland Poland.  As usual, things haven't turned out quite as he expected.
He writes to his half-brother Malcolm,
Quiet week, Malcolm.
Went with Xui and Co. for treatment at the Dead Sea.  Cured the frost pad and reduced the bruising from when the Dutch Fire Brigade pulled my arm out of the wall.
Unfortunately, the Dead Sea Salt made my eyes sore and I have to have drops in now.
This is the way I see the view from the hotel window in Jerusalem.

Thank you for visiting and for your encouraging comments.  I look forward to repaying the compliment and would say that this Postcard Challenge is pushing us all every week to try harder and get out of our comfort zone!.

CD Sunday Challenge - Spots and Dots

I have used Kirsty Wiseman's Patty Picklicious CD for the retro spotty papers that cover the bird house - made from a Sizzix die and an empty cardboard box.  The bird is from the Tim Holtz Birdcage die.  It has also been cut from stiff cardboard and then covered in modelling paste and I used a small embossing tool to make the relief spots on its body.  When it was dry I used Spun Sugar Distress stains to colour.  I also used the Spun Sugar to stencil the vine die cut (using the negative part) onto the card.  The green vine is the die cut from the same  Sizzix die.
Thanks for stopping by and do feel free to leave a comment, I appreciate every one!

Postcard Travels with Roland Poland - Week 11 Netherlands

Our cheery and cheeky canine warrior has been in the wars.  Returning from Canada with frost pad and fleas from his compatriot sledge dogs, he was immediately despatched to the Poodle Parlour with express instructions from Mrs Xong for a good wash and his teeth cleaning as his breath smelled of fish.  This week finds them in Amsterdam.
He writes to his brother Malcolm,

Dear Malcolm,
Went to a cafe in town with Mrs X.  They were all
smoking funny stuff.  I got dizzy and on the way home,
saw a hole in the wall and, remembering the story our
Mam told us about Pietre and the Dyke, I put my paw
in it.  The fire brigade had to pull me out.  Mrs X is
LIVID.
RP

Here is the page I made in his travel book.
The ship and compass were added as my husband's family originate from Rotterdam and were mostly sea captains on the sail boats.
Stamps used in the postcard are from StampsAway.  Thank you for all your lovely comments.  We both thoroughly enjoy reading them and visiting all the  other entries.

CD Sunday Challenge - From Me to You

This card is for our niece Rebecca who is 13 in a few days and who is heavily into Forever Friends.  I have used  DoCrafts Forever Friends Black and Gold CD for this card.  I am sure it is very simple for most people to use but as I am an absolute beginner in all cards digital, I  took all evening to make this one!  All the additions to the backing papers have been added separately with dimensionals so that they leap off the page.  I am very pleased with the result and I know she will be delighted.

Thanks for calling by and do feel free to leave a comment - I find them all very encouraging.

DragonsDream TIO #111 - Alice

I have used stamps from Clear Art Stamps for this tag.  The base was stamped with an alphabet background stamp then brayered with Foliage Big and Juicy Ink. It was then spritzed with water and when dry, the images were embossed with peach coloured embossing powder and coloured with Derwent Inktense pencils.  The twins were embossed in black and coloured with pencils and added separately, they remind me very much of people I used to work with!   The pocket watch is a Spellbinders die that has been dusted with Perfect Pearls.  I have had this die for ages but never used it before.

Thank you for stopping by and do feel free to leave a comment - I find them very encouraging.

Postcard Travels with Roland Poland - Week10 Canada

Xui Xong, our canine hero's benefactor, is on business in Toronto.  Mrs Xong fancies a new Arctic fox coat and takes Roland Poland up north for a few days.
He writes to his brother Malcolm back home in Carlisle.

Hi Malcolm,
Went north to Hudson Bay on the Polar Bear Express.
Joined a dog sled team for a few days.  Great bunch
of lads but we got fed on raw fish - how they can live on cat food
all the time is beyond me - yuck.
See ya bro'
RP

Here is the page I made in his travel book.
I have used stamps of Canada geese and maple leaves and a photo of a painting of Niagara Falls.  On the right is a photo of Lake Louise in Banff and the aeroplanes are for my Dad who learned to fly there during the war.

The postcard is made by sponging colour onto a base card using ripped pieces of paper as masks.  The running dog team is drawn with a fine marker and the husky dogs are a stamp from Clarity.
Thank you very much for all your kind comments and I do hope you will visit all the other participants in this wonderful around the world challenge.

CD Sunday Challenge - Imagine

My card is made using the My Craft Studio An Important Date CD.  I am a novice using MCS and my imagination went way beyond my capabilities!  This card took me all Sunday afternoon to make - who said new technology made things easier!  I have however, learned a lot and next time will hopefully make my own background paper as well. For this card I have used some from the old Graphicus Guild paper pack.  The dormouse and march hare have been decoupaged outside the frame.

I am pleased with the final card, but it is only a vague resemblance to what I imagined!  It is for my great niece Isla, who lives in Rye, New York State.  Thank you for stopping by and do feel free to leave a comment - I am encouraged by them all.

Postcard Travels with Roland Poland - Week 9 Switzerland

Our canine hero is in somewhat melancholy mood when he writes to his half-brother Malcolm this week.
He says,
Hi Malcolm,
Holiday's over, kids back at school in Switzerland and I'm in the dog house for getting drunk.
Mrs X is filling her safe deposit box with jewellery and Xui busy at work.
Keeping my head down.  Appointment at Poodle Parlour this afternoon - Oh the shame!
RP

Here are the pages I made for him in his travel book.
I used this photo below of Bern at sunset as inspiration for my postcard, it is from the official Switzerland site.
For my postcard I used a brayer, Kaleidacolour Desert Sand ink, Burgundy ink and a stamp from Crafty Individuals.
